Comber Babski

Comber, as we read in the Encyclopedia of Popular PWN 1982., A "meat on the bone of the lumbar spine slaughter animals and game." It can therefore be saddle of hare or rabbit but womanish? !!! Yes, perhaps, at least in Krakow Comber Babski Krakow is an old tradition, which was celebrated in the time ostatkowy, and which, despite its name, had nothing to do with ritual cannibalism. Word for saddle, probably from the German language, has two meanings. In this second sense combrzyć is the same as frolic, let's add soundly frolic.
Shrove Tuesday, which traditionally began with the tłustoczwartkowym gluttony, especially exuberant course were in Krakow, mainly due to women. On Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, they gathered at the Church of Our Lady on the Sand (corner of ul. Karmelicka and Garbarska), forming a considerable division. It's militia recruited mostly from przekupek trading vegetables, ripened in the fertile soils of the Black Rural caviar or Lobzow.
Peddlers were called in Krakow simply babami. Baby as I said, fidgeting with that day elaborate, decked in the great ladies. In place of satin, tulle and silk, however, they used the plebeian sacks instead of laces - straw and instead carefully arranged curls - wove itself into the hair shavings. After collection, baby lined up in order of battle and were moving to Krakow, the gate shoemaker. That raised the march may have little in common with the principles of a drill, but it was something to watch. At the head we carried a big straw effigy, imaginative man called loin. Behind this puppet he strode from the przekupek, which in a given year, held the function of the Speaker. In the first half of the nineteenth century. This office five times in a row fell unfamiliar with the name, but known for its nicknames, the wise woman named Maryna. Only the Speaker of the skirt was walking the rest.
Comber Babski survived to the end of the existence of the Cracow Republic. In 1846. Austrian police banned further celebrations. It's no wonder the authorities conservative Habsburg monarchy that put an end to the feminist party. But by a strange coincidence, many of the traditions forbidden by the conqueror revived at more convenient times and Comber Babski not.
